Uses:

Empaa Tablets 25Mg are used for:

• Monotherapy:

• Add-on Combination Therapy:
• In combination with other glucose-lowering medicinal products, including insulin, when these, along with diet and exercise, do not provide adequate glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus,.

When not to use:

Precautions:

It causes intravascular volume contraction. Symptomatic hypotension may occur, especially in patients with renal impairment, the elderly, those with low systolic blood pressure, and those on diuretics.

Warnings:

• Warning 1: Insulin and insulin secretagogues may cause hypoglycemia. The risk is increased when empagliflozin is used in combination with insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulphonylurea) or insulin. Adjustments in the dose of insulin secretagogue or insulin may be necessary to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.
• Warning 2: Empagliflozin increases the risk of urinary tract infections, including urosepsis and pyelonephritis. Monitor and treat appropriately. Consider discontinuation in cases of recurrent urinary tract infections.
• Warning 3: Empagliflozin should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Discontinue treatment immediately in suspected or diagnosed cases of DKA. Temporary interruption may be needed in patients hospitalized for major surgical procedures or acute serious medical illnesses, restarting once the patient’s condition stabilizes.
