Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)

Cebosh Suspension is effective in treating bacterial infections affecting the urinary tract, providing relief from symptoms such as pain, burning sensation, and frequent urination.

Chronic Bronchitis

This suspension is beneficial for managing chronic bronchitis, a long-term inflammation of the bronchial tubes characterized by coughing, mucus production, and difficulty breathing.

Tonsillitis (Tonsils) and Pharyngitis

Cebosh Suspension is used to alleviate infections of the tonsils and throat (pharyngitis), reducing symptoms like sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and swollen glands.

Gonorrhea

It is also used in the treatment of gonorrhoea, a sexually transmitted infection caused by the bacterium Neisseria gonorrhoeae, helping to clear the infection and prevent its spread.

Otitis Media

This syrup is effective in treating otitis media, an infection or inflammation of the middle ear commonly seen in children, which causes pain, earache, and sometimes fever.

Cebosh syrup Dosage

Adults take 400mg daily divided into two doses. Children under 45kg take 8mg/kg/day, divided into two doses. Children over 45kg and 12 years or older take 400mg once daily. Always use a standard teaspoon for accurate measurement and consult a healthcare professional for personalized dosing guidance.

Cebosh syrup Side effects

Cebosh syrup side effects range from common ones like diarrhea, abdominal pain, nausea, and flatulence, to more severe reactions such as anaphylaxis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, and toxic epidermal necrolysis. Other adverse effects include dizziness, headache, hepatitis, jaundice, skin rash, and gastrointestinal issues like pseudomembranous colitis.

When not to use

Do not use cebosh if you have a known hypersensitivity to cefixime, any component of the formulation, or other cephalosporins or penicillins.

Precautions and warnings

The precautions and warnings associated with the use of Cefixime which is the active ingredient of Cebosh syrup :

• Dermatologic reactions or severe cutaneous reactions may occur. If such reactions happen, discontinue the medication immediately and provide supportive therapy.
• Immune-mediated hemolytic anemia has been reported with the use of Cefixime. Monitor patients’ hematologic parameters and consider drug-induced antibody testing during and for 2 to 3 weeks after therapy.
• Use caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Cefixime, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other beta-lactams. Discontinue use if an allergic reaction occurs.
• If renal failure occurs during treatment with Cefixime, discontinue the medication and initiate appropriate supportive therapy.
• Prolonged use of Cefixime may lead to fungal or bacterial superinfection, including Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) and pseudomembranous colitis. CDAD has been observed more than 2 months after antibiotic treatment with Cefixime.
• Cefixime can cross the placenta and be detected in the amniotic fluid. Caution is required when prescribing this medication to pregnant women.
