Librax is a medicine that helps with stomach issues like ulcers, IBS, and infections. It does this by mixing clidinium bromide, an anticholinergic/spasmolytic drug, with chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride, a benzodiazepine that can help with anxiety. There are inactive ingredients in each pill, along with the 5 mg of chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride and the 2.5 mg of clidinium bromide.

• Gastrointestinal Disorders: It is prescribed to control emotional and somatic factors associated with gastrointestinal disorders.
• Peptic Ulcer Treatment: It serves as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of peptic ulcers.
• Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): it is used in the management of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), including conditions such as irritable colon, spastic colon, and mucous colitis.
• Acute enterocolitis: It may be employed in the treatment of acute enterocolitis.

Side effects:

Some side effects of Librax tablets are:

• Mild side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, blurred vision, dry mouth, nausea, constipation, weakness.
• Serious side effects: severe drowsiness, confusion, balance issues, yellowing of the skin, and serious eye or heart symptoms.
• Potential withdrawal symptoms: It may be habit-forming, and abrupt discontinuation can lead to withdrawal symptoms.

Dosage Guidelines:

The pill form of Librax has 5 mg of chlordiazepoxide hydrochloride and 2.5 mg of clidinium bromide. The amount is based on the person’s health and how well the medicine works for them. Most people take one or two pills three or four times a day, before meals and before bed.

Interactions with other drugs:

Barbiturates, blood thinners, MAO inhibitors, mental drugs, narcotics, or antidepressants may not work well with chlordiazepoxide and clidinium. It is very important to let your doctor know about all the medicines you are taking to avoid problems.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding:

It shouldn’t be worn while pregnant because it could hurt the baby. It gets into breast milk and can make babies who are being fed that milk sick. It is not recommended to breastfeed while taking it.

Warning: 

Taking painkillers and benzodiazepines like this medicine together can make you very sleepy, stop your breathing, put you into a coma, or even kill you. Prescriptions should only be given when other choices aren’t working, and people should be closely watched for signs of sedation and slowing of breathing.
