Description

Lerace syrup uses:

Levetiracetam, which is found in the Lerace 100 mg/mL oral solution, is a helpful medicine for epilepsy. It helps stop seizures in different types of epilepsy, like focal, partial complex, and generalized tonic-clonic epilepsy.

• Treatment of Epilepsy: Levetiracetam is primarily prescribed for the management of epilepsy. It is effective in controlling and reducing the frequency of seizures in individuals with various types of epilepsy, including focal epilepsy, partial-complex epilepsy, and generalized tonic-clonic epilepsy.
• Monotherapy for Newly Diagnosed Epilepsy: Lerace syrup is used as a single-drug treatment for adults and adolescents (up to 16 years of age) with newly diagnosed epilepsy, specifically for the treatment of partial-onset seizures with or without secondary generalization.
• Adjunctive Therapy for Epilepsy: It is also used as an add-on medication in combination with other antiepileptic drugs. It is prescribed for adults, adolescents, and children (6 years of age and older) with epilepsy, specifically for the treatment of partial-onset seizures with or without secondary generalization.
• Treatment of Myoclonic Seizures: It is effective in treating myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents (from 12 years of age) with juvenile myoclonic epilepsy.
• Treatment of Primary Generalized Tonic-Clonic Seizures: Levetiracetam is used to treat primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures in adults and adolescents (age 6 and up) with idiopathic generalized epilepsy.

• Loss of appetite (Anorexia)
• Feeling extremely sleepy or drowsy (Somnolence)
• Accidental injuries
• Extreme physical weakness and lack of energy (Asthenia)

Drug Interactions:

Levetiracetam may interact with certain medications. It is critical to notify your healthcare practitioner of all prescriptions you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and vitamins. Notably, levetiracetam may interact with probenecid and methotrexate.

Precautions and Warnings:

Patients taking levetiracetam or any antiepileptic drug (AED) should be monitored for the emergence or worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts or behavior, and any unusual changes in mood or behavior. AEDs, including levetiracetam, have been associated with an increased risk of suicidal thoughts or behavior.

Levetiracetam should be administered with caution to people with kidney impairment. Dose adjustment may be required in patients with severely impaired hepatic function. Acute kidney injury has been reported very rarely with the use of levetiracetam. Anaphylaxis or angioedema may occur after the first dose or at any time during treatment. If signs or symptoms of anaphylaxis or angioedema develop, levetiracetam should be discontinued, and immediate medical attention should be sought.
