Ibandronate’s affinity for hydroxyapatite, a component of the mineral matrix of bone, underlies its impact on bone tissue. Ibandronate decreases bone turnover and resorption by inhibiting osteoclast activity. It lowers the increased rate of bone turnover in postmenopausal women, resulting in a net increase in bone mass on average.

Uses:

Osteoporosis:

• Bionic 150mg helps prevent bone loss and fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis.

Tumor-related bone complications:

• Metastatic bone disease in breast cancer: Reduces bone damage caused by cancer that has spread to the bones.
• Pathological hypercalcemia: Controls abnormally high blood calcium levels associated with bone tumors.

Other potential uses:

• Studies suggest potential benefits for other bone disorders, but further research is needed.

Side Effects:

• Rare: Serious allergic reactions

Important Warnings and Precautions:

• Not to be used when nursing or pregnant.
• Regularly check blood calcium, electrolyte, and kidney function levels.
