Description

Artem Plus tablet Uses:

Artem Plus 80mg/480mg tablet is primarily used for the treatment of severe malaria, including cerebral malaria, and as a second-line treatment in cases of chloroquine-resistant falciparum malaria. Malaria is a serious infectious disease caused by parasites transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes.

Some side effects of the Artem Plus tablet are:

• Abdominal pain
• Anorexia (eating disorder)
• Diarrhea
• Vomiting
• Nausea
• Dizziness

Warnings and Precautions:

• Hypersensitivity: Artemether + Lumefantrine should not be used in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to the medication.
• Concurrent Use with Other Anti-malarial Agents: Due to limited data on safety and efficacy, Artemether + Lumefantrine should not be given concurrently with any other anti-malarial agent unless there are no other treatment options.
• Severe Renal, Hepatic, or Cardiac Problems: Caution is advised when administering Artemether + Lumefantrine to patients with severe renal, hepatic, or cardiac problems.It is recommended to monitor the ECG and rectify any electrolyte imbalances.
• Drug Interactions with CYP3A4: Caution is recommended when combining Artemether + Lumefantrine with drugs that exhibit variable patterns of inhibition, induction, or competition for CYP3A4. The therapeutic effects of some drugs could be altered in such cases 2.
• Aversion to Food: Patients who remain averse to food during treatment should be closely monitored, as the risk of recrudescence (reappearance of symptoms) may be greater.

Artem Plus tablets Dosage:

The dosing regimen for adults and children over 35 kg is as follows:

• Take 4 tablets as a single initial dose.
• Repeat the same dose after 8 hours.
• Take 4 tablets twice daily for the next 2 days (morning and evening).
